Genetics & Origin
The definitive purple indica, bred in the Bay Area in 2003.
Grand Daddy Purp, usually written Granddaddy Purple or GDP, crosses Purple Urkle with Big Bud. It was introduced in 2003 and became the reference point for every "purple" strain that followed. The Purple Urkle side supplies the grape and berry sweetness; Big Bud supplies the density and the finish.
The flavor is sweet grape and mixed berry with a soft floral note. Commonly reported experiences are a relaxed, euphoric mood that becomes sleepy over time, which is why GDP is one of the most common answers to "what should I vape before bed."
NUUG BAR Grand Daddy Purp comes in the 2G all-in-one as CAT 4 THC distillate and THCA Liquid Diamonds. GDP is also a parent of Cherry Pie, another NUUG BAR strain.
Effects vary by person, dose, and tolerance. Descriptions here reflect commonly reported experiences and flavor profiles, not medical claims.
